Spare Tire Carrier Mounting Instructions for Jeep Wrangler
Part of content: Instruction : Remove 3 rd brake light wiring cover and unplug both 3 rd brake light wires (see photos 1 & 2 below). Remove tailgate wiring grommet and carefully unthread wires through tailgate (one at a time). Remove 3 rd brake light assembly from spare tire mount. Remove the factory bumper using an 18mm end wrench or socket. There are 2 stud bolts on each end of the bumper and 2 hex bolts underneath along the bottom of the bumper holding it in place (see photo #4).
Install the striker plate/pin assembly to the βnewβ bumper with three (3) _β x 1_β hex bolts and flat washers. The bolts will pass through the striker plate and bumper, threading into the nut plate, which must be slid into position inside of bumper. Note that the striker pin should be positioned so that it will be above the bumper when bumper is installed (see photo 6).
