A pressure gage was purchased (about $30) to check compression on all 6 cylinders. The following procedure was used: Remove all spark plugs. Remove coil to distributor wire. Removed electric fuel pump fuse (vehicle does not have mechanical fuel pump).

Spare Tire Carrier Mounting Instructions for Jeep Wrangler

Part of content: Instruction : Remove 3 rd brake light wiring cover and unplug both 3 rd brake light wires (see photos 1 & 2 below). Remove tailgate wiring grommet and carefully unthread wires through tailgate (one at a time). Remove 3 rd brake light assembly from spare tire mount. Remove the factory bumper using an 18mm end wrench or socket. There are 2 stud bolts on each end of the bumper and 2 hex bolts underneath along the bottom of the bumper holding it in place (see photo #4).
